About
We love camping. This lot is where it landed.
We love camping. When our kids were little, we took a lot of road trips, and when night fell we slept in a tent. Later we upgraded to a trailer. It was more comfortable, and it carried what we needed.
Then we wanted a place of our own, not far from home, but surrounded by nature and things to do outside. In 2021 we bought this land in Baring. It has been our oasis ever since.
We built everything here ourselves, starting with the first pole we set. There is still more to come.
Our goal is to keep the site off the grid. We keep looking for new ways to do that. Power comes from the solar array, and from a generator when this part of the valley does not get enough sun. The lights, the shower, and the sink run on that power. There is no utility line.
We are not completely offline. Cell service is strong here, and the glamping site has Wi-Fi. Off the grid means power and water, not being out of reach.
Water comes from a well. We fill the tank before each visit, and that fill is 250 gallons for the whole stay: the shower, the sink, and the trailer. When it is gone, it stays gone until we fill it again. When resources are limited, we learn to get by with what we have.
We hope you enjoy this oasis and come back to see us.
