All trails
  • Barclay Lake

    From town · 4.4 miles

Trailhead on Barclay Creek Rd (Forest Road 6024), Baring, WA 98224. It starts across from the store on Highway 2 at milepost 42. About 500 feet of gain to a lake under the north wall of Baring Mountain. The footlog is out, so high water can stop the creek crossing. Northwest Forest Pass.

  • Deception Falls

About 20 minutes east · half a mile

US-2 at milepost 56, east of Skykomish, WA 98288. A paved loop at the falls. Good when the bigger trails are wet.

  • Bridal Veil Falls

About 10 minutes west · shorter day

Lake Serene Trailhead, Mt. Index Rd, Index, WA 98256. Just west of town off Highway 2. Steeper than Barclay. Turn around at the falls, or keep going if you want the long day.

We had a great stay in the airstream! The hosts really have thought of everything so you can just show up - kitchen is well-stocked, the outdoor shower and hangout area was nice as well. The hosts are super nice and responsive. A couple caveats, the place is very close to the railroad tracks and the highway so if you're looking for total quiet it's not great. Also while one bed is huge, the other is small and only can sleep one person max. It wasn't a problem because we brought an extra tent and sleeping bag. Wasn't cheap but easily as nice as a hotel which would have cost the same. Highly recommend!
